Transparent Bandage Application
FIRST 24 HOURS
-Leave on the absorbent bandage applied by your tattoo artist for 2-4 hours. (In some circumstances you may like to leave it on overnight: if you’re seeping a lot of plasma, or your tattoo appointment finishes late in the afternoon.) After removing absorbent bandage, immediately thoroughly wash the tattoo with as warm of water as you can stand and plain soap with your fingertips. Make sure all shiny spots of plasma are completely cleaned off.
-Do not apply lotion or apply any other coverings after removing the absorbent bandage. It’s ok for your tattoo to come in contact with clean loose clothing and clean sheets.
-Soap: Dial Liquid Antibacterial is ideal. A plain soap like Dove, Ivory, or Aveeno are also good options. Liquid soap is strongly preferred over bar soap.
SKIN PREP
-
Apply bandage around 24 hours after your tattoo appointment. Wash your hands and the tattoo thoroughly with soap and warm water IMMEDIATELY before application.
-
Let it FULLY AIR DRY, and don’t let your tattoo come into contact with ANYTHING while air drying. You may also pat dry with clean paper towel. Don’t use cloth towels, they carry germs & lint. The area must be as CLEAN and DRY as possible before applying so you are not trapping any bad bacteria inside, or have moisture preventing proper application.
-
Shave around the tattoo if needed. Bandage will not stick properly to body hair!
-
Before applying, check that there’s no shiny patches of plasma still dried on your tattoo before applying bandage- if so, wash again.
APPLICATION
-
Round the corners of the bandage/cut to shape as needed. Rounded corners tend to last longer than sharp corners. You want the bandage to cover 1+ inch of space around the tattoo without body hair.
-
With clean hands, remove the paper side of the bandage, revealing the sticky adhesive.
-
Apply from the edge or from the center, gently smoothing out as you go with your fingers to avoid air bubbles as it sticks on. Avoid applying in one quick movement because that will trap air bubbles.
-
After adhesion, find the yellow arrows revealing the seams on the plastic side to remove the layer, revealing the thin transparent bandage. Be mindful of the edges as you remove the plastic side, making sure you don’t peel them up. Do small sections at a time, thoroughly securing the edges as you go.
-
The bandage may be overlapped without issue. Around 1 inch overlap is ideal.
